At its simplest EBP is the combination of best practice evidence (based on systematic research) with practitioner expertise in order to provide the best care possible. But not all guidelines are evidence based. Diabetes UK have just published their new evidence-based Nutrition Guidelines for the prevention and management of diabetes. These new recommendations consider the balance of available evidence on diabetes and should be welcomed by us all. | Dr Iain Frame, Director of Research at Diabetes UK states that 'Diabetes UK's Nutrition Guidelines are unique in their approach in aiming to both manage Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and prevent the complications of diabetes. Practitioners can now use these with the confidence that the recommendations are based upon the best practice evidence available'. |
