Sugar Nutrition UK – the new name for the Sugar Bureau

The Sugar Bureau changed its name to Sugar Nutrition UK, on the 9th January 2012.

The new name is accompanied by a colourful logo which complements the recently revamped science-based website http://www.sugarnutrition.org.uk.

After 48 years it was decided to have a name change, to better reflect the scientific work of the association.

The name change complements the recent changes to the website, which now has the facility for health professionals, journalists, consumers and others to subscribe online to receive newsletters, research news and summaries of the latest published scientific papers.

The key role of Sugar Nutrition UK remains unchanged; to fund independent research and communicate the balance of available scientific evidence on sugars and health.

The aim is to improve knowledge and understanding about the contribution of sugar and other carbohydrates to a healthy balanced diet.

Dr Alison Boyd, the Director of Sugar Nutrition UK said; 'We are delighted to begin the New Year by presenting our new name and logo, to go along with our science-based website. We feel like our new identity gives us a fresh look and will help communication with our stakeholders'.

Ends.
