BBC Radio 4 discusses whether 'food addiction' exists

Radio 4 presented a programme on 30th April 2013 called ‘Constant Cravings: Does Food Addiction Exist?’.

The programme brought together a range of different experts, addiction counsellors and compulsive overeaters to discuss the notion and evidence base. It highlighted the difficulty in defining addiction in general and the controversy that exists around potential causal mechanisms. The programme provides a good summary of the controversy around the use of the term ‘food addiction’ and the experts’ opinions that the casual use of this phrase in the media and sensational headlines are misleading and potentially harmful.
