Sonestedt E, Wirfalt E, Wallstrom P et al (2011) British Journal of Nutrition doi:10.1017/S0007114511003783
Objective: To examine associations between diet and lipoprotein profile in a cohort of Swedish adults
Desig: Cross-sectional study using Principal Components Analysis of lipoprotein subfractions and diet history.
Setting: Malmo, Sweden cancer study
Participants: 4301 healthy subjects (60% women) aged 46-68.
Main outcome measures: Consumption of various dietary macronutrients and lipoprotein profile PCs.
Results: Weak positive association between consumption of disaccharides, and negative association with protein and alcohol, and atherogenic lipoproteion profile (ALP).
Conclusions: ALP may be improved by a low intake of disaccharides and a moderate intake of protein and alcohol.
